- Canby equestrian's Freestyle 5+ team captured the state title.
State meet offered plenty of success for Canby’s OHSET squad
They rode hard and they rode well, did the Canby High equestrian team during the state competition.
From May 8-11, Canby’s equestrians went up against the state’s best at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in Redmond and came away with plenty to be proud of.
Chief among them was a pair of state titles – Sadie Schweitzer in dressage and the Freestyle 5+ squad of Harper Sohlman, Hailey Duncan, Hailey Magenheimer, Madison Bigej, Sadie Schweitzer, Loryn Gomes, Addison Heinemann, and Hayley Smith.
But the Cougars had a bushel-full of solid performances, including eight top-5 finishes on the day. When the saddles were put away and the dust had settled, Canby snagged a team podium spot with a third-place overall finish at the state meet.
Now, for those who have qualified, there’s a little more “horsing around” to be completed, this time at the Pacific North West Invitational June 20-22 back at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds.
